We cover the layers of wool fill with "green" cotton, leaving out the toxic fire retardants...wool is naturally fire retardant providing a safe sleeping package. A natural sleeping surface, longer resilience, natural dust mite repellent, temperature control and more. These mattresses work great on platform beds, slated beds and can be used on top of a box spring or bi and tri-fold futon frames.
